The Mind Game of Weight Loss and Better Nutrition or The Evils of Dieting

By Nicky Ryan Exercise and better nutrition we all need it and want it but where do we start? Changing your mindset towards dieting and exercise is the key to starting yourself on the path to a healthier lifestyle. To start with I hate the word diet. Fad diets, diet pills, crash diets are all an attempt to quick fix something that cannot be changed overnight. Building a healthier body inside and out does really take a lifestyle change and doesn’t that start with setting your mind to want to change? To make any kind of drastic changes to our lives takes a willing mind to make the changes. Smokers and drug addicts know this all to well if You don’t set Your mind to want to change your attempts will fail. The mind is a very powerful weapon and is your greatest ally in changing your life. The problem with many of us in todays world is we are always looking for the quick fix, I need it today, get it done yesterday and so on the problem here is you can’t change overnight what you may have spent years doing. Quick and Easy two other words that are very popular in our vocabularies today I HATE THEM. Whether it has to do with losing weight, making money, changing your life in whatever way never works oh maybe short term but in the long run you fall back into the same pattern you were in before. I used the latest diet fad and lost 12 pounds great 3 months later I gained back 15 ever heard that one or used it yourself? Sure you have I hope I got my point across. Okay so where do you start? 1) Set Your Goals and Write them down and keep them in a place where you will see them constantly. Start with short term goals( lose 2-3 pounds this month, start walking 10 minutes a day, cut out some of the junk your eating) Keep it simple at first ease into it. 2) Set a Plan - Get up 30 minutes earlier and go out for a brisk 10 minute walk - or do it after the kids go to bed workout with weights for 30 minutes at night (you can give up 30 minutes of Tv) Plan for a time each day to get in some exercise. 3) Meal Planning if you plan out your meals in advance you are more likely to eat healthier 3B) If your a junk food eater don’t cut it out all at once ease your way out of it it will increase your chances of long term success 4) START DOING IT Rome wasn’t built in a Day; changing your life, losing weight, building muscle, Improving your eating habits, living a healthier lifestyle, whatever your goals are, are not going to happen overnight and it will never happen if you don’t get started.
